David Mowery is the founder and president of Mowery Consulting Group, LLC. He was recently named as one of Campaigns and Elections Magazinej’s Rising Stars for 2011. Featuring 15 Republicans, 15 Democrats and 10 Independents, his record of winning elections at all levels for candidates of both parties helps him stand out in the consulting world.
David attended the University of Georgia, earning a degree in journalism from the Henry W. Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication in 1999. In 2001, David worked at a Top-5 public relations firm in its Washington, D.C. office. While there, he helped manage a successful nationwide awareness campaign for a major healthcare group.
With vast experience in the art and science of fundraising, David has helped candidates across the country raise their “A” Budgets – including raising nearly $8,000,000 for campaigns in Alabama since 2004.
David has a record of unparalleled recent success. In 2008, he managed the successful Congressional campaign of then-Montgomery Mayor Bobby Bright in an R+13 district that had not had a Democratic representative since 1964. This was the second most Republican performing District in the country to elect a Democrat. He followed that success by managing County Commission Chairman Todd Strange’s campaign for Mayor of Montgomery – besting a six-person field without a runoff.
Using the experience and the diversity of those two campaigns founded Mowery Consulting Group, LLC in the Spring of 2009 with one thing in mind – using his mantra of “Peace Through Superior Firepower” to overwhelm opponents using the 3 M’s of politics – raising more Money, having a better Message, and disseminating that Message through all forms of Traditional and New Media.
An Army Brat who has lived in 9 states and on 3 continents, David and his wife, the former Michelle George of Plano, TX, make their home in Montgomery, AL and have one son – Baby Matthew aka “Snorg.” David is a member of the Kiwanis Club and a graduate of Class XXVII of Leadership Montgomery, and The Leadership Alabama Initiative. His family attends First United Methodist Church of Montgomery.
David’s interests include history, travel, music and sports — he plays racquetball – and lives and dies by the fortunes of his beloved University of Georgia Bulldogs.
